About Angikaar 2026

The launch of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) created a significant need to generate public awareness about the scheme and encourage participation of eligible beneficiaries to avail its benefits. With this aim, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) launched “Angikaar 2025”, a last-mile outreach campaign in September 2025. The campaign ran for a period of five months, till 31st January 2026.

Angikaar 2025 gave a boost to the implementation of PMAY-U 2.0 by creating widespread awareness about the scheme, along with fast-tracking the verification of applications and facilitating the completion of already sanctioned houses under PMAY-U. It promoted last- mile delivery through active community mobilisation, targeted engagement and convergence of schemes of Government of India. Additionally, it also enabled PMAY-U beneficiaries get benefits of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and prioritises the housing needs of beneficiaries from Special Focus Groups identified under PMAY-U 2.0.

The Angikaar 2025 campaign witnessed an overwhelming response across India through large-scale outreach activities and effectively connected with people on the ground. It accelerated the completion of more than 2 lakh houses under PMAY-U, grounding of more than 2.2 lakh houses under PMAY-U 2.0. Apart from this, occupancy of AHP houses was also fast-tracked during the campaign period.

Building upon the achievements of Angikaar 2025, the Ministry is launching Angikaar 2026 as a focused national outreach campaign from 4th May 2026 up to 31st July 2026.
